EMBO Practical Course on the "Structural Characterization of Macromolecular Complexes"
Date : May 15-20, 2006
Location: EMBL Grenoble Outstation & ESRF, Grenoble, France
Organisers:
- Christoph W. Müller (EMBL)
- Stephen Cusack (EMBL)
- Elspeth Gordon (ESRF)
- Darren Hart (EMBL)
- Jose Marquez (EMBL)
- Carlo Petosa (EMBL)
- Guy Schoehn (IVMS)
- Winfried Weissenhorn (EMBL)
Summary:
The course will cover strategies and techniques required to produce, purify,
and characterize multi-protein and protein/nucleic acid complexes.
Topics include: the production of complex components in bacteria, yeast,
insect and mammalian cells; isolation of complexes using affinity
purification techniques; biocomputational, biochemical and biophysical
characterization; and structural characterization by X-ray crystallography, NMR,
cryo-EM, and small angle X-ray or neutron scattering. The course is mainly
directed at senior Ph.D students and post-docs working in structural biology.
